Dick's Sporting Goods is making a big push into the collectibles space. The retail chain announced it will open dedicated sections called Collectors Clubhouse inside its larger House of Sports locations. These areas will stock high-end sports cards, autographed memorabilia, and other premium collectibles.
The move puts Dick's in direct competition with hobby shops and online marketplaces that have dominated the booming sports card trade. For years, the industry has seen explosive growth, with rare cards selling for millions at auction. The company sees this as a natural extension of its existing sports business, giving customers another way to engage with the athletes and teams they follow.
The Collectors Clubhouse will feature products from major trading card brands, including licensed NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL releases. Some locations will also offer in-store grading and authentication services, which are crucial for serious collectors looking to protect their investments. Dick's says trained staff will be on hand to help newcomers understand the hobby, from pack opening to understanding card values.
The first Clubhouse sections will roll out in select House of Sports stores, with plans to expand if the concept performs well. Industry analysts note that Dick's has the foot traffic and brand trust to attract casual fans who might not visit a specialized card shop. By offering a curated, premium experience, the company hopes to capture a slice of a market that shows no signs of slowing down.
