Overnight Burglary Spree Rattles Wilmington Business Owners

Wilmington police are actively investigating a series of overnight break-ins and attempted burglaries that have left several local business owners shaken and concerned for their safety. The incidents, which occurred in the early morning hours, appear to be concentrated in commercial districts across the city, with authorities now looking into whether the crimes are connected.

According to preliminary reports, at least four businesses were targeted, with suspects forcing entry through doors or windows. In some cases, cash registers were stolen or damaged, while other establishments reported missing electronics and inventory. Surveillance footage from multiple locations shows individuals wearing dark clothing and masks, moving quickly between storefronts. One business owner, who asked not to be named, described arriving to find shattered glass and a ransacked office. “It’s devastating. We’ve been here for years, and now we feel vulnerable,” they said.

Police have not confirmed whether the same group is responsible for all the break-ins, but detectives are analyzing evidence and reviewing security camera recordings for leads. “We are treating these incidents with the utmost seriousness,” a department spokesperson stated. “Business owners should remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.” The investigation remains ongoing, and no arrests have been made as of this report. Community members are urged to secure their properties and review existing security measures.
