Heavy rain disrupted the evening match schedule and forced officials to scrap the outdoor Fan Fest at Lemon Hill, leaving thousands of ticket holders scrambling for a dry place to watch the action. The sudden downpour turned into an unexpected windfall for local bars across the city, which saw a surge in business as soaked fans packed into taverns and pubs to catch the game on television.
Bar managers reported standing-room-only crowds within minutes of the Fan Fest cancellation announcement. Some establishments ran out of seating and began serving customers at the bar top and along window ledges. "We were dead quiet until the rain hit, then it was like someone flipped a switch," said one Center City bartender. "People just poured in, dripping wet and hungry for a drink and a view of the screen."
The surge extended beyond the immediate match hours, with many fans staying through multiple rounds as the rain continued into the night. Several bars extended their hours to accommodate the unexpected demand. While the cancellation of the outdoor event disappointed many, local business owners expressed gratitude for the boost on what would have otherwise been a slow evening. The city has not yet announced whether the Fan Fest will resume as scheduled for future matches.
