The first company to acquire land in New Hanover County's Blue Clay Business Park, Francini Inc., has announced a temporary halt to its development plans. Sean Banester, the company's location manager, confirmed that the decision was made due to challenges related to the soil conditions on the site.
Despite the setback, Banester emphasized the company's commitment to constructing a facility on their nearly six-acre parcel within the 120-acre business park. He noted that the unique requirements of their business necessitate a thorough redesign and planning process for the future warehouse, distribution center, and showroom.
Originally, Francini Inc. had ambitious plans to build a 100,000-square-foot facility with an investment of approximately $10 million, which would also generate numerous job opportunities. The company currently operates a location in Wilmington and cited the strategic advantages of the park's proximity to major transportation routes as key factors in their decision to establish a presence there.
New Hanover County officials expressed optimism about the project, stating they look forward to seeing Francini's investments materialize. Meanwhile, other businesses are making headway in the park, with construction ongoing for Coastal Millwork Supply Co., further highlighting the area's growing economic activity. Banester remains hopeful that, despite the current challenges, Francini Inc. will ultimately succeed in their venture.
