‘We’ve got some unfinished business’: Corey Gipson reflects on historic Austin Peay season

Head coach Corey Gipson is already looking ahead following a landmark season for the Austin Peay Governors men's basketball program. While taking time to reflect on the team's achievements in the 2025-26 campaign, Gipson made it clear the journey is far from complete.

“We’ve got some unfinished business,” Gipson stated, emphasizing the foundation built this past year was just the beginning. The season, widely regarded as one of the most successful in recent program history, has fueled heightened expectations and ambition within the team and the community.

When discussing the program's home, Gipson shifted focus to the profound connection with Clarksville itself. He highlighted the unique and passionate support from the local community as a critical component of the team's identity and success. According to Gipson, the special bond between the city and the university creates an unparalleled environment for his players to develop, both on and off the court.

This blend of on-court progress and deep community integration sets the stage for the Governors’ future. With a historic season now in the rearview, Gipson and his team are channeling their energy toward building a sustained legacy, motivated by the unwavering support of their hometown fans.
